Carnaval isn’t just a celebration for adults, children love it too! The central theme of the festivities is fun and that’s is something that kids all ages can get by attending the matinee hours of the “18th Annual Brazilian Carnaval with Neguinho da Beija-Flor” on Saturday, February 24th, from 2pm to 6pm, at Cafe Club Fais Do Do.

Dedicated to the whole family, the event features traditional Carnaval activities by Brazilian Play and Learn, a duo of educators who have created a fun methodology to teach Portuguese and the Brazilian culture to kids and teens in Los Angeles.

“By exposing your children to other cultures, you help them to understand the concept of diversity, and give them the opportunity to learn about history, religion, geography, etc. They also learn to accept who are different rather than judge them”, said Bia Borinn, who founded Brazilian Play and Learn in partnership with Mariana Leite. “Being kind and respectful go beyond borders. Celebrating with music and dance is a way to encourage the new generation to experience cross-cultural interactions”, said Mariana.

Carnaval is one of the most important Brazilian festivities and it’s known as the “Greatest Show on Earth”. It happens 40 days before Easter and usually held over three days prior to Ash Wednesday, but the festivities often extend to the full week and bring thousands of people to the streets and clubs to dance.
